Canlis Salad Recipe

Canlis Salad

Ingredients:

For the Salad:

1 head Romaine lettuce (torn into bite-size pieces)
1/2 head Red leaf lettuce (optional, for color and texture)
1/2 cup Cherry tomatoes, halved
1/4 cup Green onions, finely chopped
1/4 cup Fresh mint leaves, chopped
1/2 cup Crumbled bacon (about 4 slices, cooked crisp)
1/2 cup Grated Romano cheese (or Parmesan)
1 cup Croutons (preferably homemade)

For the Dressing:

1/2 cup Olive oil
2 tablespoons Fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons Red wine vinegar
1 Garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional for extra tang)

Instructions:

Make the Dressing:

In a small bowl or jar, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, garlic, salt, pepper, and Dijon mustard if using.
Set aside to let the flavors meld.

Prepare the Salad:

In a large salad bowl, combine Romaine and red leaf lettuce.
Add cherry tomatoes, green onions, chopped mint, and crumbled bacon.
Toss in the croutons and grated cheese.

Dress the Salad:

Just before serving, pour the dressing over the salad.
Toss gently to coat everything evenly.

Serve Immediately:

Plate the salad and serve fresh — this salad is best when crisp and just dressed.

Tips:

For authenticity, use Romano cheese instead of Parmesan.
Homemade croutons (tossed with olive oil and toasted) make a big flavor difference.
Chill the salad bowl and ingredients beforehand for a refreshing crunch.
