Here’s a classic and flavorful Chicken Tikka recipe you can easily make at home

Chicken Tikka


Ingredients (Serves 4)

500 g (1 lb) boneless chicken (cut into bite-sized cubes)
½ cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or melted butter)
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste)
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander and lemon wedges for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Marinade
In a large bowl, whisk together the yogurt, lemon juice, oil, and ginger-garlic paste.
Add cumin, coriander, turmeric, paprika, garam masala, chili powder, and salt.
Mix well to form a smooth marinade.

2. Marinate the Chicken
Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and coat them evenly.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours (overnight gives the best flavor).

3. Cook the Chicken

Option A: Grill / BBQ
Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers.
Grill over medium-high heat for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally until fully cooked and slightly charred.

Option B: Oven
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
Place chicken on a lined baking tray or skewers.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, then broil for 2-3 minutes for a charred effect.

Option C: Pan / Stove
Heat a little oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
Cook chicken for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and cooked through.

4. Serve
Garnish with fresh coriander and lemon wedges.
Serve hot with naan, rice, or salad, along with mint chutney or raita.
